THORChain Summary, Research Notes, Links and Videos

THORChain is a decentralized liquidity protocol.  The network is 100% anonymous and decentralized. With THORChain, native cross-chain swaps are possible. Meaning, you can convert BTC to ETH without going through a central exchange like Kraken, Gemini or Binance.

Other cross-chain solutions use atomic swaps or require that the native asset be wrapped or pegged. THORChain is the only protocol that uses native assets. All liquidity pools are denominated in $rune, the native token.

THORChain uses a Continuous Liquidity Pools (CLP) network design. The CLP algorithm includes a slip-based fee which is liquidity-sensitive; fee are proportional to liquidity. Liquidity Providers are highly rewarded for their liquidity, some earning double to triple digit APY. And yield is returned as the native token. Some have speculated the network design and incentive structure of THORChain could create a "Liquidity Black Hole".
